Established in October of 2010:
The Shadowood Organic Food Garden
What is this? A community type food garden in Palm City. Shadowood offers individual, raised garden plot rental spaces where you can grow your own organic foods from October through April/May with help from friends and other food growers. Plant, learn, grow, pick, eat, share!
Our first gardens in 2010 were a great success in spite of multiple frost and freeze events… We built the #2 Garden in 2011 and shared a wonderful second season. Our #3 Garden was constructed in the summer of 2012 and was full of happy gardeners during our third season. Now, we are currently preparing our garden beds in anticipation of a fabulous fourth season of collective food gardening. As of May 4th, 2013- all of our season four spaces have been reserved. We are currently accepting names on our waiting list for the 2013/14 Season.
Our goal is to offer something for everyone who wants affordable, fresh, organic and local food, so here are your options at Shadowood:
- You can rent a garden space and learn to grow your own food. Sorry, but we are currently full for our Fall 2013 spaces. Become a General Member to be placed on our Waiting List.
- OR….You have the option of becoming a General Member for $35 per season. With a General membership you have the opportunity to attend classes, seminars, the option to buy veggies from Shadowood gardeners at ultra reasonable prices, 6 days a week. This membership is perfect for folks who already garden at home, those who want to learn more about organic food production OR those who want to purchase ready vegetables and herbs from November through April. New members are always welcome and the membership fees are pro-rated mid-season.
